Description

An armchair with a bold, sculptural impact that offers a new take on the spirit of the 1970s with an organic, enveloping shape. Soft, flowing lines outline a full-bodied form with a distinctive stylistic signature, capable of asserting itself as an iconic presence in the space it inhabits. The tubular metal frame, with its cantilevered structure, mirrors the silhouette with a sleek, dynamic line. Deliberately exposed and suspended, it transcends its structural role to become a defining design element: it supports the seat and provides a subtle springiness, enhancing the perception of softness and lightness.

A continuous, padded, rounded element with a uniform profile outlines the overall shape.

It embraces the armchair from behind, wrapping the seat in a fluid, harmonious gesture. The 45-degree stitching at the corners, accented by subtle gathers, emphasizes the rhythm of the piece and introduces a note of refined sculptural elegance. The backrest and seat comprise two distinct cushions, slim in outline yet richly proportioned, carefully conceived to offer harmonious, cocooning comfort. Versatile and cross-disciplinary, Barrel engages with a variety of design languages. A piece of furniture with a strong personality, it can be effortlessly integrated into contemporary or more eclectic settings, reinterpreting retro inspiration with a current and sophisticated sensibility. A matching footstool completes the ensemble, mirroring its contours and inviting an even more relaxed posture.

GamFratesi

Minotti and GamFratesi began collaborating in 2018. The design of GamFratesi, architecture firm established in 2006 in Copenhagen by Italian-Danish duo Enrico Fratesi and Stine Gam, is rooted in the perfect fusion of tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and technology, rigour and poetry. With their different cultural backgrounds, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi model their creative intuitions into designs that draw from both the classic decor and artisan tradition of Denmark and the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach.

A tried and tested melting pot of styles, expressed in furniture, objects, and installations with a silent elegance, in the production techniques used and in the meticulous attention to detail applied to the creations. The result is a sophisticated interpretation of Scandinavian minimalism, with many subtle, yet striking Nordic hints.
