Description
A distinctive silhouette, characterised by overlapping rounded volumes with a clear 1960s and 1970s influence, brings the Coupé seating system by Giampiero Tagliaferri to life. The project reinterprets classic forms through a contemporary lens, finding a balance between vintage charm and modern functionality. Soft forms and couture-inspired details, including elegant tone-on-tone longitudinal stitching in the leather version, reflect Minotti’s refined craftsmanship. The enveloping shapes and ergonomic sinuosity of Coupé are enhanced by an inclined seat designed to ensure maximum comfort. These forms meet the strong horizontality of the padded headrest and lumbar cushions, creating a dynamic visual composition that culminates in the distinctive armrest profile. The longitudinal stitching runs across the entire volume, beginning at the headrest, passing through the backrest buttons, and continuing across the seat.
With a broad selection of elements, Coupé allows for infinite flexible layouts, combining seating modules or using individual pieces independently. A standout is the generously proportioned couch with its unique double inclination. Completing the design is a curved aluminium frame, available in varnished or brushed polished finishes, positioned at the front and back of the upholstered base to protect the upholstery while enhancing the sofa’s distinctive silhouette. ADV 2025: Coupé, the design by Giampiero Tagliaferri, is the protagonist in an atmosphere shaped by Californian modernist influences, enriched with textures and subtle 1970s references. Here, the lines of the system, reinterpreted with contemporary elegance, evoke spaces where vintage charm meets modern functionality.
Structure։ The seat structure is made of plywood and coated in high-resilience, variable-density polyurethane foam, with a steel pocket-spring core ensuring excellent shape retention and enhanced comfort. The seat inclination is carefully customised to maximise comfort, while the polyurethane foam is precisely contoured to optimise ergonomics. The seat, backrest, armrest, and headrest are finished with high-loft fibre laminated to hypoallergenic white cotton fabric or canvas for extra softness, while fine tailoring details include fabric- or leather-covered buttons on the lumbar cushion. For convenient maintenance and upholstery removal, the front and rear bases can be removed using a quick set-and-release closure system, while the headrest can be lifted out by releasing the levers beneath its support structure. This practical solution also facilitates shipping and delivery when required.
Cushions։ Optional cushions are padded in channelled goose down. The goose down is subject to routine sanitization as specified in EC Regulation No. 1069/2009 (Assopiuma Gold Label certified). The 75x65 cm cushion has an additional high-resilience polyurethane foam insert in temperature-sensitive material. The cushions are then encased in breathable heat-bonded fibre laminated to white hypoallergenic cotton fabric.
Covers։ Upholstery is completely removable in all versions (fabric and leather).
Base։ Curved drawn aluminium, present on the front and rear of the upholstered base, is decorative and also protects the upholstery. Available in polished brushed aluminium or in aluminium with varnished polished anti-fingerprint finish in Black Coffee or Birch Grey colour. Rests on 45 mm H polypropylene feet and black SEBS glides.

Designer
Giampiero Tagliaferri
The collaboration between Minotti and Giampiero Tagliaferri, architectural and interior designer with studios in Los Angeles and Milan, kicks off in 2024. The designer’s aesthetic approach is inspired by his bond with the two cities, reflecting the intersection of 20th century Italian design and Southern California modernism.
In this way, the delicate Milanese balance of ornament and essence, splendour and discretion blends harmoniously with Californian simplicity, understated elegance and the sensual interplay of light, colour and landscape, resulting in a distinctive and evocative design language in harmony with the brand’s style and taste.
